Our Journey

Halfway through development we made what felt like an impossible decision.

We 'scrapped' our original 2D direction and rebuilt Ambervale into a stylized 2.5D world. It meant recreating environments, reworking characters, rebuilding scenes, and adapting our gameplay systems. all with only a few days remaining in the jam.

It was a risk, but it also became the defining moment of the project.

Inspired by Scripture

Rather than retelling a single Bible story, Ambervale seeks to capture the shared heart behind this year’s verses.

“A town that has grown dim slowly finds hope again. Small acts of faithfulness become the catalyst for lasting restoration. And through patient perseverance, both the player and the community are transformed.”

Those themes became the foundation for every quest, conversation, and environment we built.

Built During the Jam

Our two-person team created:

• A handcrafted 2.5D harbor village
• Original pixel characters and animations
• Dialogue-driven quests
• Environmental puzzles
• Inventory and progression systems
• An original world designed specifically for the jam

While this is only the opening chapter, it represents the beginning of a much larger world we’d love to continue building.
